"Heaven is the highest square in hopscotch. The one your pebble always misses. Membership of this mysterious resort is a privilege exclusively reserved for angels, like Wilbur.
Wilbur is a rusty giant, an angel in the autumn of his life. Only his cat, who once snuck into heaven through the backdoor, keeps him company.
Flocks of young angels fly about, but to him they are just a bunch of ignorant fussy kids. All the older angels have retired long ago, except Wilbur. He is tired, but plagued by the merciless predicitability of his life and ready to escape his infinitely big cage.
You don't go nowhere if you don't know where nowhere is."
Wilbur is a tale of hubris about an angel fed up with life in heaven, inspired by the myth of Icarus. Wilbur first hears about Earth through Icarus, whom he meets on his fall. They start a conversation that is abruptly interrupted - from that moment on Wilbur knows:
I want to go to Earth.
